Closed Questions
Q -------------- A
A closed question is a question that can be answered with one word, often a simple "yes" or "no". It is a form of questioning that really does not encourage elaboration on a topic. Examples of a closed question are:
"Would you consider any alternatives with my training?" or "Do you think we can resolve that problem?"

Closed question are used everyday. Closed questions provide answers that are quick and effective. If you want to draw out people and receive detailed responses, short, one word answers to questions are not going to be helpful. People may want to elaborate about a topic, but if you use a closed end question they might think you would prefer a brief answer to your question.
