The Centre Mission: To create multicultural awareness with the emphasis on sharing of core values, by exchange programs (“face-to-face” contacts) aimed at breaking stereotypes & increasing international understanding and goodwill.
Purpose: Assist the Maritime State University (MSU) integration into the international education, promote multicultural unity idea.
The Center of Multicultural Exchange carries out weekly training for cadets and students of the University aimed at stimulating participants to contribute to reolution of global problems. Model UN allows cadets and students to Model the UN Assembly (MUNA), make reports on the most controversial issues and discuss them. The winners of the yearly MUNA competition with representatives from the Australian Rotary International, represent the University in the Australian Model United Nations Assembly. Also members of MUNA participate in Moscow and International Models of UN. This project was initiated by the charity organization Rotary International Australia to create multicultural awareness with the emphasis on sharing of core values, through exchange programs (“face-to-face” contacts) aimed at breaking stereotypes, enhancing international understanding, goodwill and peaceful settlement of conflicts.
In the frame of the MUNA project the Center organizes English language training, cooperates with the USA Consulate General in Vladivostok, invites international guests of Vladivostok to meet cadets and students of MSUN and participate in MUNA discussions. The continued plans are to attract more cadets and students to participate in this project, to overcome the wall of indifference among cadets and students of Vladivostok. Stimulate them to acquire leadership qualities and the sense of purpose despite the hard economic and social conditions of Russia.
