Overview

The Hague Appeal for Peace is an international network of organizations and individuals dedicated to the abolition of war and making peace a human right. The Global Campaign for Peace Education was launched at the Hague Appeal for Peace conference in May 1999. After the conference, Hague Appeal for Peace took the responsibility of coordinating the Campaign. A major focus of their work has included the development of stories supporting peace work around the world.

Their newest publication is Peace Lessons from Around the World. This collection of sixteen lessons, from Albania, Cambodia, Philippines, Kenya, India, Nepal, US, Catalunya (Spain) and South Africa, is based on the Hague Agenda for Peace and Justice for the 21st Century (UN Ref. A/54/98) They should be adoptable and adaptable to any culture and will serve to stimulate values and skills for a culture of peace. Included are suggested guidelines on how to make a peace lesson.

The mission of the Hague Appeal for Peace is in transition to the wonderful new organization, Peace Boat-US. You can reach them at info@peaceboat-us.org or go to their website, which is being constructed, http://www.peaceboat-us.org
